No Restricted Parking in Loch Arbour, NJ

During the COVID-19 global pandemic, the Village of Loch Arbour proposed a system for resident only parking on the streets closest to the beach. Loch Arbour is home to a great surfbreak and has generally been a welcoming town to surfers and surfing. At their May 6, 2020 meeting of the Mayor and Commissioners, (via Zoom Meeting) ordinance 2020-464 was introduced. Within days the chapter sprang into action. Calls, emails, and requests for information were made to the Loch Arbour Clerk and to elected officails. The Chapter organized people to attend another meeting of the Mayor and Commissioners to discuss COVID-19 beach proceedures, crowd control, and social distancing rules. Although the ordinance was not on the agenda, chapter leaders expressed strong opposition to the change in parking rules. Before this meeting even started, the Mayor withdrew the ordinance even though it was not on the agenda by posting a message on the Chapter's Facebook Page. Update - on June 3, 2020 the Mayor and Commissioners voted to remove the parking ordinance from the agenda.
