Long Beach Breakwater Reconfiguration
The Chapter has advocated for reconfiguring the Long Beach breakwater for many years and is seeing progress towards this long-term campaign. The goal of this campaign is to allow ocean currents to reach the waters and beaches that are now blocked by an out-dated breakwater. The benefits would include improvements to the marine ecosystem, improved water quality and the restoration of waves that historically attracted surfers and beach-goers and was an important part of the Long Beach economy and quality of life.
