Irvine Passes Community Choice Energy Plan
On December 10, 2019, the Irvine City Council voted to officially bring Community Choice Energy (CCE) to the City! The Surfrider Foundation along with the South Orange County Community Choice Alliance, has been advocating to bring CCE to Irvine for the past year. CCE allows cities and counties to purchase power on behalf of their residents in order to provide cleaner power options, set rates at a competitive or lower price, while the existing utility company continues to deliver power over their power lines. CCE is the wave of the future and will help curb climate change by reducing Greenhouse Gas emissions.
